Arma Bianca has launched new products that combine the anime Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood with the tableware brand Noritake. They are now available to order on Arma Bianca’s online shop, AMNIBUS.

The collaboration is not only about producing anime merchandise for display, but about creating practical goods that fans can use in daily life. It reflects AMNIBUS’s guiding idea of “everyday use”, which means character goods designed to be part of normal routines rather than something left on a shelf. This makes the project stand out from many other anime collaborations, which often focus on figures or posters.

The Collaboration Partners - Arma Bianca and AMNIBUS

Arma Bianca is a company best known for running AMNIBUS, an online shop that offers a wide range of original anime and manga goods. The company’s approach has always been to design merchandise that people can easily integrate into their lives. Whether that means mugs, T-shirts, or stationery, the aim is to balance fandom with function.

Noritake, on the other hand, is a name with over a century of history in porcelain and tableware. Founded in 1904, it is internationally recognised for fine bone china and high-quality tableware.

For this collaboration, Noritake’s expertise in ceramics has been combined with the world of Fullmetal Alchemist to create pieces that carry both refinement and strong thematic design.

The collaboration has introduced a collection of cup and saucer sets inspired by two of the anime’s most beloved characters, Edward Elric and Roy Mustang.

◆The Cup and Saucer Sets

The collaboration features two designs, each representing one of the central figures in Fullmetal Alchemist. Both sets are made from Noritake’s bone china, giving them a smooth finish and durability while keeping them light to handle.

◆Edward Elric Version

The Edward Elric design takes its cue from the series’ young protagonist. The cup carries a motif of the “Flamel’s Cross,” the symbol found on the back of Edward’s red coat. This emblem, which combines a cross, a serpent, and wings, is recreated in an emblem-like style. The saucer features the State Alchemist’s mark, linking the piece to Edward’s official role in the story.

To highlight the design, the rim of the cup, its handle, and the edge of the saucer are decorated with gold. The golden detail contrasts with the white china and creates a finish that reflects Edward’s spirited and determined personality, while still being subtle enough for use at an ordinary tea or coffee break.

◆Roy Mustang Version

The Roy Mustang design follows a similar concept but takes inspiration from the Flame Alchemist’s distinctive gloves. The transmutation circle that appears on Roy’s gloves is adapted into a formal emblem pattern and placed on the cup. Like Edward’s version, the saucer carries the State Alchemist’s mark.

Instead of gold, the Mustang set uses silver on the rim, handle, and saucer edge. The cooler tone matches Roy’s calm, commanding presence. It offers a slightly different atmosphere from the Edward design while still being unmistakably part of the same collection.

◆Practical Information

While these sets are decorative, they are also designed to be used. Each cup has a capacity of about 240 millilitres, enough for a standard serving of tea or coffee. The size of the cup is roughly 9 cm in diameter and 6 cm in height, with the handle extending the length to about 11.5 cm. The saucer measures 15 cm across with a small rise at the edge.

Because the sets are decorated with metallic gold and silver, they cannot be used in a microwave oven. This is a common limitation with tableware featuring metallic designs, as the heat and sparks could damage both the microwave and the decoration. However, they remain suitable for hand-washing and can be enjoyed in normal everyday use.

Each set is priced at 20,680 yen (tax included). At today’s exchange rates, this places them firmly in the premium bracket, reflecting both the use of Noritake bone china and the detailed collaboration work.
