This year Reebok will mark the 30th year of its INSTAPUMP FURY trainer through a collaboration with PlayStation. The collection, titled PlayStation Edition INSTAPUMP FURY ’94, will be released in Japan through BEAMS JAPAN Shinjuku and the BEAMS online store between 24 and 26 October 2025.
A Shared Beginning
When Reebok introduced the INSTAPUMP FURY in 1994, the model stood out for its innovative Pump system, which allowed wearers to adjust air pressure for a precise fit without traditional laces. In the same year, Sony launched the original PlayStation, introducing 3D gaming and a controller layout that became one of the most recognised designs in entertainment.
Both names represented a shift towards technology-led design and a new approach to user experience. This new partnership reconnects them three decades later, linking Reebok’s focus on performance innovation with PlayStation’s influence in digital culture.
◆The PlayStation Edition INSTAPUMP FURY ’94
The PlayStation Edition INSTAPUMP FURY ’94 keeps the same structure as the original trainer, with details that refer directly to PlayStation’s early years. The Pump valve carries the phrase “Press Play”, which refers to the console’s power-up sequence. The tongue resembles a memory card, a familiar accessory from the first PlayStation console. The upper is embossed with the PlayStation logo, while the colour scheme follows a clean and functional design.
Each pair will be presented in a collector’s box featuring both Reebok and PlayStation branding.
The retail price will be 47,000 yen.
◆The Stacking Box Set
Reebok and PlayStation will also issue a limited-edition collector’s package titled PlayStation | Reebok 30th Anniversary Collection Stacking Box. The set includes three pairs of trainers, one of which is the PlayStation Edition INSTAPUMP FURY ’94. Each set will be packaged in a stackable box with an individual number and certificate of authenticity.
The premium edition will also contain additional items such as figures and PlayStation-themed accessories.
It will be priced at 108,900 yen including tax.
◆Availability and Purchase
The collection will be available only in Japan. Sales will take place at BEAMS JAPAN Shinjuku and through the BEAMS online shop between 24 and 26 October 2025.
Each customer will be limited to one pair per model.
◆A Commemorative Book on the Side
Since this year marks 30 years since the launch of the original PlayStation® in North America and Europe, Sony has also announced the forthcoming release of a large-format photo book titled PlayStation: The First 30 Years to recognise this significant milestone. This publication brings together rare materials that trace the hardware development of the PlayStation brand from its earliest stages to the present day.
Across 400 pages, the book features previously unpublished prototypes, concept sketches and design models, offering readers an insight into the design process behind each generation of PlayStation consoles and controllers.
PlayStation: The First 30 Years will be released globally in spring 2026, with pre-orders now open through the official PlayStation website.
