Kirkwood began with a cattle rancher named, Zack Kirkwood who decided to settle in the area and build an inn. The inn, named Kirkwood’s was situated at the convergence of three counties (Alpine, El Dorado & Amador counties) and was on the path of the new Amador/Nevada Wagon Toll Road. The inn became a fashionable summer destination. In 1966 the inn and land were sold to an investment group who created the Kirkwood Mountain Resort. Kirkwood is just one of the reasons why residents love living in beautiful Alpine County! Guest Book Girl, Rebekah is honored to be part of your open house.
