At Doorzo, we know that many of our customers love shopping across a wide range of categories—merchandise, collectibles, electronics, accessories, and more. Often, these purchases involve multiple orders placed at the same time. Since shipping packages overseas individually is not cost-effective, it’s only natural that our customers prefer to have their items combined into a single parcel.
That’s why our package consolidation service is designed to merge your orders into one shipment. This not only helps reduce international shipping costs but also minimizes unnecessary packaging, making the process more efficient and eco-friendly.
However, in some cases, you may notice that a consolidated parcel is automatically separated into multiple boxes. You might wonder: Why did this happen? Is Doorzo trying to overcharge me on shipping fees?
The answer is NO. There are specific reasons why items sometimes need to be split. This guide will walk you through:
◆Packaging standards – the maximum box size, how items are arranged, and why space and stability matter for safe shipping.
Why are some consolidation orders still split into two (or more) boxes?– common scenarios where multiple consolidated boxes are necessary to meet carrier size and weight limits.
◆Large figurines – how oversized boxes and collectible packaging require special handling, sometimes resulting in multiple parcels.
◆Electronic products – the care taken with fragile devices and the impact of lithium battery regulations.
◆Items containing lithium batteries – restrictions by different carriers, removal options, and why extra compliance steps are sometimes required.
◆Safety and compliance – what customers should keep in mind about shipping methods to ensure smoother consolidation.
Packaging Standards
To guarantee safe and efficient shipping, Doorzo uses clearly defined packaging standards. The maximum size of a consolidated box is:
750 × 420 × 606 millimetres
This dimension provides sufficient space for a wide range of products, while still complying with carrier requirements. Each item is arranged carefully within the box to minimise empty space and prevent movement during transit.
Why Are Some of My Orders Split into More Than One Consolidated Box?
Our priority is always to combine as many of your items as possible into a single parcel—helping you save both time and international shipping costs. However, in certain cases, items may need to be split into multiple consolidated boxes. This is usually due to the logistics company’s restrictions on maximum box size and weight. To ensure your parcels comply with these standards and can be shipped safely, we sometimes have to separate them.
Below are some of the most common situations where this may occur:
①Large Figurines
Figurines are among the most popular products ordered through Doorzo. For those who are familiar with figurines, or are collectors themselves, these items often arrive in oversized boxes containing protective packaging such as polystyrene inserts, blister casings or reinforced cardboard. While this protects the figurine, it also means that the packaging takes up considerable space within any consolidated parcel.
During consolidation, and in order to safeguard both the figurine and its original presentation box, Doorzo takes particular care when handling these products. The outer packaging is preserved wherever possible, as many collectors value the box almost as highly as the item itself. As the boxes are large, if a customer orders several figurines, we may need to separate the consolidation into two boxes.
②Electronic Products
Electronic products form another major category within Doorzo’s consolidation service. These items include devices such as cameras, headphones, handheld consoles, gaming accessories and other precision equipment. Since electronic products tend to contain fragile internal components, they require careful handling. Any shock or impact during international transit could affect performance or cause damage.
By consolidating such items into fewer parcels, Doorzo reduces the number of shipments in transit, thereby minimising the overall risk of loss or misdelivery. However, as these items are fragile, if too many are packed too tightly together there is a risk of damage. In such cases, they may need to be separated into different consolidated boxes. In addition, electronic products may contain built-in lithium batteries, which means they must comply with strict carrier regulations. (detailed later in this guide).
③Items Containing Lithium Batteries
The final category, items containing lithium batteries, requires the greatest level of caution. Products such as smartphones, portable gaming devices and cameras typically include built-in batteries. International aviation law classifies lithium batteries as hazardous goods because of the fire risk they may pose under certain conditions.
Doorzo is committed to full compliance with these regulations, which vary depending on the carrier chosen by the customer. Some carriers impose strict limits on the number of devices that can be shipped together, while others prohibit loose or external batteries entirely. As a result, Doorzo may require you to decide whether to separate your items into multiple parcels or request the removal of batteries in order to meet safety requirements. In most cases, this separation cannot be processed automatically and must be handled manually. If that happens, you may need to contact our Customer Service team to arrange the separation of your consolidated orders.
◆Lithium Battery Restrictions
-Lithium batteries are classified as hazardous goods due to potential fire risks. Doorzo must therefore comply fully with aviation and carrier regulations. Customers should carefully review the following rules when selecting their preferred shipping method.
◆Japan Post (EMS, Registered Small Packet, Airmail, Surface Mail) and DHL
-A maximum of two items with built-in lithium batteries are permitted per parcel.
-Loose or external lithium batteries are not allowed.
-If more than two devices containing lithium batteries are purchased, Doorzo will divide the order into multiple parcels.
◆FedEx
-Only items with built-in lithium batteries are allowed.
-There is no limit on the number of devices, provided all batteries are integrated.
-This makes FedEx a highly suitable option for customers purchasing multiple electronic items.
◆ECMS and Doorzo Air
-Lithium battery products are not supported.
-These services are also limited to specific destination countries. Customers should check availability before selecting them.
Safety and Compliance
Doorzo recommends that customers always consider their chosen shipping method before placing an order that includes items with lithium batteries. Understanding these requirements in advance allows for smoother consolidation and avoids disruption.
