Swatch is celebrating this year’s rare Pink Moon with a brand-new limited-edition MoonSwatch: "Mission to the Pink Moonphase." Set to release on 1st April, this timepiece is part of the Bioceramic MoonSwatch collection and will be available until 13th April at selected Swatch stores across Japan.
To mark the occasion, these special shops will be decorated with a cute pink Rolling Planet miniature car—a nod to the watch’s out-of-this-world vibes. The little pink car will be "travelling" across Japan, so the stores carrying the watch will change daily. What Makes This Moonphase So Special?
This year’s April full moon is actually a Micro Moon, meaning it’ll appear slightly smaller and dimmer in the sky because it's at the furthest point in its orbit from Earth. In contrast to last August’s Supermoon, which was huge and bright (and celebrated with the "Mission to the Super Blue Moonphase"), the Pink Moonphase goes in the opposite direction—subtle in the sky, but bold and dazzling on your wrist.
This new release features beautiful pink tones and impressive details that really make it pop. The watch includes a moonphase display at the 2 o’clock position, set against a black and silvery-pink opaline dial. Two pink moons rotate beneath a mask, glowing in the dark thanks to Super-LumiNova® coating. Shine a UV light on it and you’ll reveal secret details hidden in the moonphase mask—proper cool, that.
Little Details That Make It Pop
One of the sweetest touches? The 2 o’clock pusher has a tiny heart embossed on it—a playful reference to the watch’s built-in pulsometer. This is a classic feature found in sports chronographs that lets you measure your heart rate. Just press start when you feel your pulse, count 30 beats, then stop. The pulsometer scale tells you your beats per minute. A fun and functional detail with a romantic flair!
Just like the rest of the MoonSwatch collection, the Pink Moonphase is made from Bioceramic—Swatch’s own material blend made from one-third bio-sourced material (castor oil) and two-thirds ceramic. The design stays true to the OMEGA Speedmaster Moonwatch, with its iconic asymmetrical case, concave sub-dials, and overall silhouette.
You’ll find the OMEGA × Swatch logo proudly displayed on the dial and crown, while the back of the case is engraved with the watch’s mission statement. The battery cover features a delicate pink-toned moon, and the watch comes fitted with a pink VELCRO® strap—perfect for your next spacewalk, or just looking fly on the streets.
A Tiny Rolling Planet Tour
In a playful twist, Swatch’s usual global Rolling Planet theme car is going mini! The tiny pink car will be “travelling” to selected stores across Japan during the limited sales period. Each store it visits will have the Pink Moonphase watch in stock, and the only way to find out where the car is going next is by checking Swatch’s social media.
